Police said a 2025 Hyundai Elantra operated by a 22-year-old Alabama man was heading south on the Turnpike when the driver didn’t slow down for a semi-trailer that had slowed for traffic ahead. The Hyundai’s front hit the rear of the semi.

Lake County, FL. – A man was killed while a woman sustained severe injuries following a traffic collision on Thursday night on Florida’s Turnpike, in Lake County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the deadly crash happened at about 10:15 p.m. on July 24, south of Hancock Road.
Police said a 2025 Hyundai Elantra operated by a 22-year-old Alabama man was heading south on the Turnpike when the driver didn’t slow down for a semi-trailer that had slowed for traffic ahead. The Hyundai’s front hit the rear of the semi.
The man was declared dead at the crash site while a 23-year-old Alabama woman riding as a passenger was transported to ORMC for treatment.
Troopers believed that none of the Hyundai’s occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
The 45-year-old Naples man driving the semi was not hurt in the collision. He stayed at the crash site after the accident.
No additional details regarding this crash were provided.
