Tina Huston Killed in Crash on Highway 96 in Nauvoo

Authorities said Spencer Clark of North Dakota was traveling on the highway in a 1998 Toyota 4Runner when he drove into the oncoming traffic. A 2011 black Chevrolet Traverse attempted to avoid the collision by steering into the opposite lane but ended up veering back int its lane and the two vehicles collided.

Tina Huston Dies After Nauvoo Car Accident on Highway 96 in Hancock County

Hancock County, IL. – Tina M. Huston was killed after a head-on collision on Sunday afternoon in Nauvoo, Hancock County, according to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.

The accident happened on July 20 on Highway 96 near 2215 North in Nauvoo.

Authorities said Spencer Clark of North Dakota was traveling on the highway in a 1998 Toyota 4Runner when he drove into the oncoming traffic. A 2011 black Chevrolet Traverse attempted to avoid the collision by steering into the opposite lane but ended up veering back int its lane and the two vehicles collided.

The Chevrolet driver, Robyn L. Villegas of Keokuk sustained minor injuries following the crash.

His passenger, Huston was taken to  Carthage Memorial Hospital by ambulance and later flown to OSF in Peoria, where she later died.

 Jessica Smith, also Villegas’ passenger, was flown to Iowa City with critical injuries.

A 15-year-old also riding in the Chevrolet was transported to Carthage hospital and was later flown to St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.

Clark sustained serious injuries and was transported to Carthage Memorial Hospital before he was flown to OSF in Peoria.

An investigation is underway.
