Police said multiple vehicles were involved including a 1958 Chevrolet Impala driven by Barreras that was underneath the semi-truck. His Impala was also on fire.

N.M. – 61-year-old Cecil Barreras of Albuquerque was killed after a multi-car collision on Sunday morning in Albuquerque, according to the New Mexico State Police.
The accident happened at 7:57 a.m. on July 20, on westbound I-40 at Rio Grande NW.
Police said multiple vehicles were involved including a 1958 Chevrolet Impala driven by Barreras that was underneath the semi-truck. His Impala was also on fire.
Barreras, a lowrider legend, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
No one has been charged at this time.
An investigation is underway.
