Apache Junction, AZ – One person was killed and another was injured Friday night in a wrong-way collision in Apache Junction, according to the authorities.
The deadly collision took place around 9:00 p.m. on July 18 in the area of U.S. 60 and Goldfield Road.
Authorities said a vehicle was traveling the wrong way when it was involved in a head-on collision.
Two people had to be extricated from the wreckage.
One person was killed in the accident. Another person was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The identity of the victim has not been released.
Impairment was suspected to have been a factor in the collision.
The collision closed the westbound lanes of US 60 near Goldfield Road for about an hour.
The authorities are investigating the accident.
