Tucson, AZ – A person was hit and killed by a car early Friday morning in Tucson, according to the authorities.

The deadly accident took place just after 1:00 a.m. on July 18 in the 300 block of East Fort Lowell Road.

Authorities said Eugene Anthony Nieto,44, was crossing the road, approximately 150 feet east of a High Intensity Activated Crosswalk (HAWK) signal, when they were struck by an eastbound 2019 Hyundai Elantra.

The Elantra driver, a 41-year-old, stopped at the scene and called 911.

Nieto was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver was not impaired at the time of the accident.

The authorities are investigating the accident.
