Polk County, OR – A motorcyclist was killed on Thursday in a collision with a log truck near Salem, according to the Oregon State Police.
The deadly accident was reported around 4:12 p.m. on July 17 at the intersection of Kings Valley Highway and Highway 22.
Police said David Peter Jorgensen, of Oak Harbor, Washington, was riding a Kawasaki EJ650 motorcycle northbound on Kings Valley Highway and had stopped at the intersection. He tried to cross the highway and hit the side of a westbound Kenworth log truck, driven by a 60-year-old Sheridan man.
Jorgensen was pronounced dead at the scene.
The log truck driver was uninjured in the accident.
The accident closed Highway 22 for about five hours.
The authorities are investigating the accident.
