Brenden Colvin and Heather Jones Killed in Crash in Cahokia Heights

Authorities said, a Kia SUV and a GMC pickup truck were heading south on Illinois Route 3 when the Kia SUV tried to pass the GMC, but the Kia clipped its front end. The impact threw Covin and Jones, all occupants of the Kia, out of the vehicle.

Cahokia Heights, IL. – 26-year-old Brenden Colvin of the 1200 block of Columbia Road in Dupo and 41-year-old Heather N. Jones of the 2300 block of Old State Road in East Carondelet have been identified as persons killed in a crash on Monday evening in Cahokia Heights.

According to the St. Clair County Coroner’s Office, the accident happened at Illinois 3 and Ruby Lane at 1:48 a.m.

Authorities said, a Kia SUV and a GMC pickup truck were heading south on Illinois Route 3 when the Kia SUV tried to pass the GMC but the Kia clipped its front end. The impact threw Covin and Jones, all occupants of the Kia, out of the vehicle.

Covin and Jones did not have seatbelts at the time and were killed in the crash.

The GMC occupants were not hurt in the crash.

An investigation by the Illinois State Police Accident Reconstruction team is ongoing.
