Phoenix, AZ – Three inmates were injured Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle accident in Phoenix, according to the authorities.
The accident took place just before 8:00 a.m. on July 9, near 7th Street and Buckeye Road.
Authorities said a Tempe police transport van was returning to Tempe City Jail with nine inmates onboard. Another vehicle failed to yield while making a left-hand turn and hit the van.
Three inmates were taken to the hospital as a precaution.
The detention officers were uninjured in the accident.
The authorities are investigating the accident.
