Steven Bye Dies in Tucson Bicycle Accident near South Rita and Old Vail Roads

Tucson, AZ. – The 75-year-old man who was injured last month in a bicycle accident in Tucson has died, according to the Pima County Office of the Medical Examiner.

Steven Raynor Bye’s death was reported on July 7.

The accident happened on June 25, near South Rita Road and Old Vail Road.

Tucson Police Department said Bye was riding his bicycle westbound when he turned left into the path of a silver Toyota, driven by a 34-year-old man, and was hit.

Bye was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries where he later died.

The Toyota driver was uninjured in the accident, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.

Unsafe vehicle movement by the bicyclist was a factor in the accident.

The police are investigating the accident.
