Broward County, FL – One person was killed and another was injured Wednesday night in a head-on collision in Central Broward County, according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.

The fatal collision took place around 10:14 p.m., July 2, at the intersection of Peters Road and Southwest 46th Avenue.

Deputies said 45-year-old David Ramsden of Plantation was driving a 2003 Honda Accord westbound on Peters Road and was approaching a construction zone near the intersection. He aggressively maneuvered around traffic warning signs and other vehicles into the designated left-turn lane of the intersection. He then continued westbound through the intersection at a high rate of speed and struck the concrete median on the westbound side of the intersection. He continued westbound and collided head-on with a parked 2023 Dodge Ram 2500 driven by 43-year-old Steven Bell of Fort Lauderdale.

The Honda spun clockwise before coming to a stop, while the Dodge was pushed westbound where it rolled and came to a stop in the left eastbound lane of Peters Road.

Ramsden was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Bell was treated at the scene.

Excessive speed and presumed impairment on Ramsden’s side were possible factors in the accident.

The collision remains under investigation.
