Man, 90, Hit and Killed by Vehicle while Riding Bike on North Main Street

Nappanee, NV. – A 90-year-old man was killed after a bicycle accident on Thursday afternoon in Nappanee, Elkhart County, according to a local news source.

The accident occurred on North Main Street at about 12:30 p.m. in the 2100 block of North Main Street.

Per the report, a 90-year-old man was riding a three-wheeled bicycle northbound when it allegedly turned left to go into a business in front of a southbound tan 2008 Hyundai. The two ultimately crashed and the man was thrown off his bicycle.

First responders arrived at the crash site and conducted life-saving measures, but the man was declared dead at the crash site.

The Hyundai driver, a 63-year-old Nappanee woman, was not hurt in the collision.

Police did not believe alcohol or drugs contributed to the collision.

Authorities said toxicology tests will be completed as required by Indiana law in severe bodily injury and fatal collisions.

Authorities closed State Road 19 between County Road 150 and East Woodview Drive following the accident.

An investigation is underway.
