12-Year-Old Kavari Drisdell Killed in Decatur Bicycle Crash

Decatur, IL – The 12-year-old boy who was hit by a vehicle while riding his bicycle at an intersection in Decatur on Sunday has been identified as Kavari Drisdell of Decatur

The deadly crash happened at the at the intersection of Van Dyke Street and King Street on June 15 at about 5 p.m.

Investigators said Drisdell was riding his bicycle eastbound across North Van Dyke Street when he was hit by a 2011 Dodge Challenger, operated by a 45-year-old Decatur man.

Drisdell was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

The driver of the Dodge was not injured. The man was arrested on charges of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol-Causing Death.

The crash remains under investigation.
