The deadly crash happened at 3:11 p.m. on June 13 at the intersection of Rock Springs Road and Westgate Drive.
Decatur, IL – A 68-year-old man was killed and two other people were injured after two vehicles collided in Decatur on Friday afternoon.
The coroner identified the deceased man as Paul A. Lyons from Decatur.
The deadly crash happened at 3:11 p.m. on June 13 at the intersection of Rock Springs Road and Westgate Drive.
Decatur Police Officers said a red 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser, operated by Paul Lyons, was stopped in the eastbound lane of W Rock Springs Road facing westbound. Lyons then abruptly turned the PT Cruiser right across the westbound lane and headed toward a driveway on the north side of the road.
As a result, the Cruiser was hit on the passenger side by a tan Chevrolet 1500 truck heading westbound on W Rock Springs Road.
The driver of the Chevrolet – an 18-year-old male – and his juvenile male passenger, both from Decatur, were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Lyons was also taken to a local hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later
No additional information was provided.
The crash remains under investigation.
