Deschutes County, OR – The Oregon State Police has identified a victim who was killed in a head-on collision on Highway 126 in Deschutes County Monday morning as 45-year-old Carrie Jane Wilson of Prineville.
The police responded to the deadly wreck at around 10 a.m. on June 9 on State Route 126 neat milepost 2.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Wilson was operating a westbound Kia Sol on the highway when, for unknown reasons, her vehicle veered over the centerline and collided head-on with an eastbound Ford F250 driven by 67-year-old Richard Alex Byron of Redmond.
Wilson died at the crash site while Szymanski, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries.
The highway was impacted for approximately three hours during the investigation.
The incident remains under investigation.
