Lincoln County – One person was killed and several others were injured after four vehicles collided on Highway 101 in Lincoln County Saturday afternoon, the Oregon State Police said in a press release.

The fatal multi-vehicle crash happened at about 3:31 p.m. on June 7 on Highway 101 at milepost 119 near Lincoln City.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a white Chevrolet Spark was traveling northbound on Highway 101 when, for unknown reasons, it went off the travel lane and sideswiped a southbound white Tesla S, before crashing into a blue GMC Yukon, also heading southbound.

The initial impact sent the Tesla into the northbound lane where it collided with a black Kia Sorento.

The driver of the Chevrolet was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and a passenger in the Kia were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The Tesla driver and a passenger, and the GMC driver also sustained minor injuries in the crash.

The highway closed for about seven hours as investigators and crews worked at the scene.

The crash is under investigation.
