Merritt Island, FL. – Two workers were killed after a giant crane collapsed at the construction site of Health First’s Cape Canaveral Hospital on Wednesday afternoon, according to a local news report.
The Health First’s Cape Canaveral Hospital director for public and media relations confirmed the incident that happened on June 4 on Merritt Island.
Per the report, a giant crane fell and crushed a work truck.
Two trade contract workers, one employed by Baker Concrete and another by another trade contractor were killed in the accident.
Their names were not immediately released.
The site’s roof was damaged following the incident.
Several emergency cars and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation. They believed high winds and rains could have contributed to the accident.
An investigation is ongoing.
