Yakima, WA. –  A pedestrian was injured after being hit by a car in Yakima on Friday afternoon.

According to the Yakima Police Department, the accident happened around 12:35 p.m. on Nob Hill Boulevard near Ledwich Avenue.

A Chevrolet Silverado and a Honda Civic were driving west on Nob Hill Blvd when the Silverado rear-ended the Honda.

The impact sent the Civic into a sidewalk where it struck a 64-year-old Yakima man.

The pedestrian was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with unknown injuries.

The driver of the Civic was unhurt and stayed at the accident scene.

The driver of the Silverado fled the scene and was arrested near Spruce and Front after a brief pursuit and was booked into Yakima County jail.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
