The driver of the car fled the scene but was later located and taken into custody
Washoe County, NV. – A bicyclist died after being struck by a car on Wednesday night in Washoe County.
According to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened around 9 p.m. on Eastlake Boulevard, between Guffey Drive and Side View Way.
A man was riding a bicycle in the area and was hit by a car.
The bicyclist was transported to the hospital where he died while receiving treatment.
The driver of the car, 43-year-old Travis Smith, fled the scene but was later located and taken into custody.
The suspect was booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility on charges of duty to stop at the scene of an accident causing substantial bodily harm or death.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
