The fatal accident occurred just before 3:00 a.m., May 21, in the northbound lanes of the Sawgrass Expressway, just north of Oakland Park Boulevard.

Sunrise, FL – A woman was killed and a man was injured early Wednesday morning in a wrong-way accident in Sunrise, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The fatal accident occurred just before 3:00 a.m., May 21, in the northbound lanes of the Sawgrass Expressway, just north of Oakland Park Boulevard.
FHP said a red Buick sedan was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of the expressway when it crashed into a Freightliner truck.
The Buick driver, a 38-year-old woman from Midland, Georgia, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released.
The driver of the Freightliner, a 47-year-old man from Hialeah, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The accident closed all the northbound lanes.
The FHP is investigating the accident.
