Yuma, AZ – The Yuma Police Department has arrested two people who fled the scene of a crash that left a 48-year-old male bicyclist critically injured in Yuma late last month.
The collision happened at about 11:41 p.m. on April 28 in the 1400 block of West 8th Street.
According to Yuma police, a bicyclist was hit by a vehicle carrying 24-year-old Israel Preciado and 20-year-old Yancy Antonio.
Antonio and Preciado fled the scene after the collision leaving the critically injured bicyclist.
The man was transported to Onvida Health before being flown to a Phoenix-area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
According to Yuma PD, officers arrested Preciado and Antonio at about 7 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. The two suspects were booked on numerous felony and misdemeanor offenses, including leaving the Scene of an Accident, assault, aggravated assault, tampering with evidence, hindering prosecution, false reporting, and criminal damage.
The incident remains under investigation.
