Tucson, AZ – At least two people were injured following a chain reaction traffic collision on Interstate 10 early Thursday morning, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) said the collision occurred about 3:15 a.m. on May 1 in the eastbound lanes on 10 Freeway at milepost 288 near Vail.

According to DPS, investigators said it appears there was debris on the roadway from a crash.

A vehicle crashed into one of the vehicles involved in the earlier collision while trying to avoid the debris.

At least two people, including the at-fault driver, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to the hospital.

The at-fault driver is being investigated for possible intoxication, as per the DPS.

No additional information is available at this time.
