Maricopa, AZ – One person was hurt and a large pesticide spilled on a busy highway near Maricopa following a two-vehicle crash, causing a brief closure of the road Friday morning.
The truck accident occurred just before 9 a.m. on April 26 on SR 347 near Riggs Road, north of Maricopa in Pinal County.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety said a box truck and a truck-tractor pulling two semi-trailers were involved in the crash.
The impact caused the box truck, which was loaded with pesticide, to roll over. A large amount of pesticide was spilled on the roadway following to incident.
The driver of the box truck was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, DPS said.
The roadway was shut down briefly as crews worked to clear the crash scene and remove the pesticide from the roadway.
The incident remains under investigation.
