The teenage driver was hospitalized with serious injuries
Ava, IL. – A teenager was seriously injured in a collision that occurred on Monday, February 17, near Ava in Jackson County.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened around 8:13 a.m. on Highway 4 near Fuhrhop Road.
A 61-year-old from Washington, Michigan, was driving a 1998 Volvo tractor-trailer north on Highway 4 when the driver slowed down to make a turn and was hit by a 2017 Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by a 17-year-old.
The teenage driver was hospitalized with serious injuries.
The truck driver was unhurt.
The Ava Fire Department, Campbell Hill Fire Department, and the Jackson County Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
