The wreck took place on Interstate 4 at mile marker 1 in Ybor City.
According to the report, two vehicles were involved in the collision on the westbound side of I-4.
One person was pronounced deceased at the scene while four others were taken to Tampa General Hospital with unspecified injuries.
The westbound lanes of I-4 were shut down as authorities investigated the incident.
The FHP is working to determine the cause of the accident.
