Keristin Garrett Killed in Gary Truck Accident on I-80/94

Gary, IN. – A driver was killed in a collision involving an Indiana Department of Transportation truck near Gary on Friday morning, according to the Indiana State Police.
The incident happened around 7 a.m. February 28, on I-80/94 at mile marker 7.7.
An INDOT Hoosier Helper truck was stopped to help a driver with a flat tire when the truck was rear-ended by a red Ford pickup truck.
The Helper truck had its emergency lights on when it was hit by the pickup truck, which was traveling at a high rate of speed.
The driver of the pickup, identified as Keristin Garrett, 30, of Gary, was pinned in the truck following the accident. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
There were no other injuries in the accident.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
