Carol Spezzano Seriously Injured in Dunedin Pedestrian Accident on Main Street

The pedestrian was transported to a local trauma center with life-threatening injuries

Pinelllas County, FL. – 83-year-old Carol Spezzano was seriously injured after being struck by a car at a parking lot in Dunedin on Sunday afternoon.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened around 3:03 p.m. at the Publix located at 1491 Main Street.

71-year-old Mary Canfield was behind the wheel of a 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan when she put her vehicle in reverse to allow another vehicle to pass.

While backing up, the Canfield struck Spezzano, who was pushing a shopping cart through the crosswalk.

The pedestrian was transported to a local trauma center with life-threatening injuries.

Police ruled out speed and impairment as factors in the crash.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
