The incident took place on I-580 near the Galena Creek Bridge on Friday, February 7.
A Subaru was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed when it lost control and crashed into the rear of a Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue truck responding to another collision.
The driver of the Subaru died in the accident.
The northbound lanes of I-580 were blocked in the area as authorities worked to clear the scene.
The accident is under investigation.
