Las Cruces, N.M. – Josie Cardona, 35, of El Paso, has been identified as the driver who died in a multi-vehicle collision last week Friday in Las Cruces.
The deadly collision happened around 4 p.m. along Interstate 10 West near mile marker 140 (the Mesilla turnoff), according to the New Mexico State Police.
A semi-truck reportedly rear-ended a passenger vehicle at a construction zone on the freeway. The impact triggered a chain-reaction collision involving a semi-truck and another passenger vehicle.
Cardona was driving a passenger vehicle and was pronounced dead at the accident scene.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
