Davie, FL – A 19-year-old man was killed and six other people were injured in a high-speed two-vehicle collision on State Road 84 in Davie early Saturday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The deadly crash happened at about 2:45 a.m. on January 25 on State Route 84 at University Drive.

FHP said a 2020 gray Audi S5 operated by a 21-year-old Plantation man with four passengers was driving in the left lane on westbound SR-84 approaching University Drive.

At the same time, a 2014 white Honda Accord, operated by a 24-year-old Pompano Beach man with three passengers, was traveling in the center lane and semi-parallel to the Audi.

Authorities said both vehicles were going at high speeds when the right side of the Audi side-swiped the Honda’s left side.

The impact pushed the Audi to the left shoulder when it struck the concrete wall and re-entered the roadway. The driver lost control of the sedan, and the vehicle spun out, crossed all lanes, crashed into the right guardrail, left the roadway, and crashed into a metal fence.

FHP said the Honda driver managed to control the vehicle and stopped on the right shoulder of westbound SR-84.

A 19-year-old Davie man, who was a passenger in the Audi, was ejected from the sedan and died.

All the other individuals from both vehicles – the two drivers and four passengers – were injured in the collision.

Authorities said all victims were between the ages of 19 and 25 years.
