Bradenton, FL- A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run collision in Bradenton last week on Thursday, according to the Bradenton Police Department.
The accident took place in the 1300 block of 15th St. W at about 11:30 p.m. January 17.
According to police, a black Infinity sedan was traveling at a high rate of speed when it lost control, slammed into a tree, and hit a pedestrian who was sitting or sleeping in the area.
The victim, Clarence Brooks, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver fled the scene after the accident but was later arrested.
The suspect, identified as Julio Torres, 28, of Bradenton, was arrested on Sunday on charges of vehicular homicide, hit-and-run with death, and driving while license suspended.
Torres’ father, Jose Torres, 59, was also arrested following the incident and is charged with accessory after the fact.
The incident is under investigation.
