Orlando, Florida – A 23-year-old Altoona woman was killed in a traffic collision involving a dump truck and a sedan on County Road 439 in Orlando Tuesday morning, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
The deadly collision happened at about 8:23 a.m. on January 14 in the southbound lane of County Road 439 near County Road 44A, authorities said.
Investigators said a 28-year-old Leesburg wan was driving a 1994 dump truck northbound on CR-439 when he encountered stopped traffic. The man attempted to brake but the dump truck veered into the southbound lane and collided head-on with a 2019 Toyota Corolla.
The driver of the Corolla, a 23-year-old woman, was taken to AdventHealth Waterman Hospital, where she was declared deceased, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
The woman’s name has not been released.
The Leesburg man was not injured and remained at the scene.
Troopers blocked CR-439 in directions as they investigated the incident. No additional details have been released.
The crash remains under investigation.
