Pedestrian Killed in Las Vegas Hit-and-Run Collision on West Owens Avenue; Suspect Arrested

According to LVMPD, the auto-pedestrian accident occurred at about 6:00 p.m. on January 16 on West Owens Avenue, east of A Street.

Las Vegas, NV – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a hit-and-run suspect near downtown Las Vegas Thursday night, according to Metro Police.

According to LVMPD, the auto-pedestrian accident occurred at about 6:00 p.m. on January 16 on West Owens Avenue, east of A Street.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a man was in the roadway on Owens Avenue and was, “standing or bent over” near the sidewalk when he was hit by a 2006 Nissan Murano. The involved driver fled the scene leaving the pedestrian severely injured.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and transported the man to UMC where he later died from his injuries. The victim’s name has not been released.

LVMPD said officers later located the Nissan in a North Las Vegas parking lot. The hit-and-run suspect was also located and arrested for hit-and-run.

The incident remains under investigation.
