Bernalillo, TX – A man was killed in a wrong-way crash with a Santa Fe police officer on Interstate 25 near Bernalillo early Wednesday morning, according to New Mexico state police.
New Mexico State Police said the accident happened at about 1:15 a.m. on January 8 on Interstate 25 near Santa Ana Pueblo north of Bernalillo
Police said the man, who was operating a 2006 Dodge Charger, was traveling the wrong way on I-25 when he struck a vehicle operated by an off-duty Santa Fe officer who was heading southbound after a shift.
The wrong-way driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by the state Office of the Medical Investigator, as per the State police.
The police officer was transported to the hospital for treatment and later released.
No additional information is available at this time.
The collision remains under investigation.
