3 Injured in Wrong-Way Mesa Car Accident

An elderly driver caused a wrong-way Mesa car accident on U.S. 60 near Signal Butte Road, Wednesday night.  The Department of Public Safety stated that the driver made a U-turn on U.S. 60 heading east into westbound traffic. Witnesses reported that she then side-swiped a gray Toyota Prius just before almost slamming nearly head-on into a Chevy Malibu. The Prius was pushed into another traffic lane after being side-swiped and struck by a white Chevy Silverado.

Three people were taken to a local hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries. All traffic lanes were open for travel at approximately 10:00 p.m.
