1 Killed in Rollover Crash on U.S. 98 and U.S. 19 in Perry, Taylor County

A 44-year-old Cantonment man was heading north in his SUV when, for unknown reasons, the SUV left the roadway, headed into the center grass median and rotated clockwise.

Perry, FL.- A passenger was ejected and killed following a rollover collision on Saturday night in Perry, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The accident happened at about 11:00 p.m. on June 21, on U.S. 98 and U.S. 19 near Athena Road.

A 44-year-old Cantonment man was heading north in his SUV when, for unknown reasons, the SUV left the roadway, headed into the center grass median and rotated clockwise. The SUV then drove back to the roadway, left the roadway again hitting a utility pole, spun out and overturned. 

A 54-year-old Pensacola man, not wearing a seat belt, was thrown out of the vehicle and was declared dead at the crash site.

The driver and a female passenger, 48-year-old Crestview woman, all had seat belt at the time. They both sustained minor injuries due to the collision.

Troopers closed northbound lanes of the highway briefly. All lanes were re-opened by morning.

The Taylor County Fire Rescue and Century EMS and Taylor County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene. 

No other information regarding this crash was provided.

An investigation is underway.
