Authorities said a motorcyclist was injured after being struck by another vehicle in a hit and run accident early Saturday morning on SR 99 near 14th Street in Tukwila.
Tukwila, WA.- A motorcyclist was injured following a hit and run accident Saturday morning on SR 99 in Tukwila.
The accident occurred at approximately 1:25 a.m. on August 22 on northbound SR 99 near 14th Street.
According to the initial report, the motorcycle and another vehicle were both traveling north on SR 99 in one of the two available lanes when the other vehicle struck the motorcycle.
The driver of the other vehicle continued north after the collision and left the scene.
The motorcycle came to a stop on the right shoulder and was totaled as a result of the accident.
The injured motorcyclist was transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.
Authorities said the rider was wearing a USDOT compliant helmet at the time of the collision.
The driver and vehicle that left the scene have not been identified. The initial report listed hit and run as the charge associated with the collision.
The roadway remained blocked for approximately three hours and 47 minutes while emergency crews assisted the injured rider and authorities investigated the accident.
The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation.
