Police said a man suffered life threatening injuries after being struck by a suspected impaired driver Saturday night near 28th and Peoria Avenues in north Phoenix.
Phoenix, AZ.- A man was critically injured following a pedestrian accident Saturday night in north Phoenix.
The accident occurred around 11 p.m. on August 22 near 28th and Peoria Avenues.
According to the initial report, the man had been arguing with a woman before witnesses chased him into the roadway.
The man entered the street and was struck by a vehicle traveling through the area.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and transported the injured pedestrian to a local hospital for treatment.
Authorities said the man suffered life threatening injuries and was listed in extremely critical condition.
The driver, also identified as a man, initially left the area following the collision.
Police said the driver returned to the scene several minutes later. Investigators believe he was impaired when his vehicle struck the pedestrian.
The driver has not been publicly identified.
Authorities said the driver could face charges after investigators complete their review of the collision.
The accident remains under investigation.
