Parkland, WA – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle near Parkland on Friday, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The accident took place on State Route 7 near 143rd Street on July 4.
A pedestrian was reportedly walking on the sidewalk when a southbound driver drifted off the roadway and hit the pedestrian.
Emergency crews performed life-saving measures on the pedestrian but the victim succumbed to their injuries.
The driver remained at the scene and was arrested on charges of DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
All northbound lanes of SR 7 were shut down as authorities worked to clear the scene.
The WSP is investigating the accident.
