Authorities said a woman was killed and three other people were injured following a two vehicle accident Tuesday morning at Lake Avenue and South Washington Street in Mundelein.
Mundelein, IL.- One woman was killed and three other people were injured following a two vehicle accident Tuesday morning in Mundelein.
The accident occurred at approximately 10:50 a.m. on August 25 at the intersection of Lake Avenue and South Washington Street.
Authorities said the collision involved a white Volkswagen Tiguan and a silver Hyundai Elantra.
The driver of the Volkswagen, a 51 year old woman, was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville following the collision.
Authorities said the woman suffered severe injuries and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Three people traveling in the Hyundai Elantra suffered injuries in the accident and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Authorities said the injuries sustained by the three occupants of the Hyundai were not considered life threatening.
Police closed the intersection while emergency crews assisted those involved and investigators examined the accident scene.
Authorities have not released the identity of the woman who was killed or additional information about what led to the collision.
The accident remains under investigation.
