Authorities said one person was killed and three others were injured following a two vehicle accident Tuesday morning at Lake Avenue and South Washington Street in Mundelein.
Mundelein, IL.- One person was killed and three others were injured following a two vehicle accident Tuesday morning in Mundelein.
The accident occurred at approximately 10:50 a.m. on August 25 at the intersection of Lake Avenue and South Washington Street.
Authorities said the collision involved a white Volkswagen Tiguan and a silver Hyundai Elantra.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and provided medical assistance to the occupants of both vehicles.
The driver of the Volkswagen, a 51 year old woman, suffered severe injuries and was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for treatment.
Authorities said the woman later died from her injuries at the hospital.
Three people traveling in the Hyundai were also injured in the collision and transported to a local hospital.
Authorities said their injuries were not considered life threatening.
The intersection was closed while emergency crews assisted those involved and investigators examined the accident scene.
Authorities have not released the identity of the woman who died or additional information about the three injured people.
