Police said a 36 year old Melbourne man was killed after being struck by a Jeep Cherokee while riding an electric scooter early Sunday morning near Croton Road and McKinley Avenue in Melbourne.
Melbourne, FL.- An electric scooter rider was killed following an accident early Sunday morning in Melbourne.
The accident occurred around 1:46 a.m. on August 9 near the intersection of Croton Road and McKinley Avenue.
Police identified the scooter rider as 36 year old Walter Davis McCoy of Melbourne.
Investigators said the driver of a Jeep Cherokee attempted to swerve to avoid the scooter but was unable to prevent the collision.
McCoy later died from his injuries.
The Melbourne Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement Unit is seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has information that could assist investigators.
