Authorities said one person was killed and three others were injured following a multi vehicle accident involving a suspected impaired driver early Sunday morning on Interstate 5 in Federal Way.
Federal Way, WA.- One person was killed and three others were injured following a multi vehicle accident Sunday morning on Interstate 5 near South 336th Street.
The accident occurred at approximately 3:40 a.m. on August 23 in the southbound lanes of Interstate 5.
Investigators said a driver suspected of impairment fled from a traffic stop and traveled approximately 13 miles before the collision occurred.
Authorities said the fleeing vehicle struck an uninvolved vehicle carrying four people.
One occupant of the uninvolved vehicle suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other three occupants suffered minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Following the initial collision, the fleeing vehicle reportedly lost control and struck a state police vehicle that had been pursuing it.
Authorities identified the fleeing driver as a 24 year old. The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI, eluding, and vehicular homicide.
