Spokane, WA – One person was injured early Tuesday morning in a hit-and-run accident in Spokane, according to the Washington State Patrol (WSP).
The accident happened around 12:01 a.m. on July 1, on Division Street, near the intersection of Highway 2 and Highway 395 near Country Homes Boulevard.
WSP said a vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control around a corner, and the car crossed the concrete median and hit a Department of Transportation sign. It came to a rest in the southbound lanes before catching fire.
A passenger in the vehicle, 22-year-old Alexis L. Niggemeyer of Deer Park, was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center for treatment. Another passenger, 19-year-old Kenzell J. McIntyre of Spokane, was uninjured in the accident.
The driver fled the scene and the authorities are looking for them. The condition of a fourth passenger was not disclosed.
The authorities are investigating the accident.
