Police said a 57 year old man died after being struck by a vehicle in a hit and run accident near 5th Avenue and Indian School Road in Phoenix.
Phoenix, AZ.- A 57 year old pedestrian was killed following a hit and run accident near 5th Avenue and Indian School Road.
The accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on September 7.
Authorities identified the pedestrian as DeWayne Lewis.
Lewis was struck by a vehicle and suffered serious injuries in the collision.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and transported Lewis to a local hospital for treatment.
Authorities said Lewis later died from injuries sustained in the accident.
Police believe a white SUV struck Lewis before the driver left the scene.
Indian School Road was closed between 3rd Avenue and 7th Avenue for several hours while officers investigated the collision and gathered evidence.
Police are asking anyone with information about the collision or the driver involved to contact authorities. Information can also be provided to Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
Authorities continue working to identify the driver involved in the fatal collision.
The hit and run accident remains under investigation.
