Sarasota, FL.- A man was killed following an accident involving a motorized scooter and a vehicle Wednesday morning in Sarasota.
The accident occurred around 7:45 a.m. on August 26 on U.S. 41 near 17th Street.
Emergency crews responded to the scene following reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a person riding a motorized scooter.
The scooter rider suffered critical injuries as a result of the collision.
Authorities said the man was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for treatment, where he later died from his injuries.
The driver involved in the accident remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Southbound U.S. 41 was closed near 17th Street while emergency crews assisted the injured rider and authorities investigated the collision.
