Authorities said multiple people were injured following a multi vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon that shut down westbound Interstate 10 near Valencia Road in Tucson.
Tucson, AZ.- Multiple people were injured following a multi vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 10 in Tucson, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
The accident was reported around 3 p.m. on August 19 on westbound Interstate 10 near Valencia Road.
Authorities said the collision involved multiple vehicles and resulted in the westbound side of the interstate being shut down.
A photographer at the accident scene reported seeing at least one semi truck with its cab ripped off following the collision.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety confirmed that people suffered injuries in the accident.
Authorities have not released the number of people injured or information regarding the severity of their injuries.
Westbound Interstate 10 remained closed for several hours while emergency crews assisted those involved, investigators examined the collision, and crews worked to clear the roadway.
Portions of the interstate remained closed until approximately 6 p.m.
