Wanatah, IN. – A 43-year-old man was killed in a car crash that left another person injured on Saturday night in Wanatah, Laporte County.
According to the Laporte County Sheriff’s Office, the fatal crash happened in the 200 block of South Main Street at East 2nd Street at around 10:30 p.m.
A 43-year-old man was driving a in a green 1998 Mazda pickup truck northbound on Main Street when he crossed the center line into the southbound lane and collided head-on with an oncoming 2016 GMC pickup truck driven by a 65-year-old. The GMC veered off the roadway and crashed into a residence.
The driver of the Mazda was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in the Mazda sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
Police suspect alcohol was a factor in the crash.
