Phoenix, AZ – The woman who was killed in a wrong-way crash that left a man in critical condition in Phoenix early Wednesday morning has been identified.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety identified the woman as Javayah Shecole Burkett, 18, of Glendale.
Authorities said Javayah Burkett was driving northbound in the southbound lanes on Interstate 17 when she collided with a pickup truck operated by 53-year-old Tolleson man at 7th Avenue at about 3:20 a.m. on June 4.

Phoenix, AZ – A woman is dead and a man is in critical condition following a wrong-way traffic collision along Interstate 17 in Phoenix early Wednesday morning, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
The deadly collision happened at about 3:20 a.m. on southbound Interstate 17 at 7th Avenue
DPS said an 18-year-old woman was driving a sedan northbound in the southbound lanes of the freeway when she collided head-on with a pickup truck.
The woman was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released.
The man driving the pickup truck suffered life-threatening injuries and was hospitalized.
Motorists experienced delays on I-17 for several hours. Traffic on the freeway stretched well past the Durango Curve and onto I-10.
The freeway was reopened was reopened at about 7:30 a.m.
The crash remains under investigation.
