Two-vehicle accident turns into fatal multi-vehicle car collision

Phoenix, AZ (June 18,2018)- A Monday morning fatal multi-vehicle crash closed the left lanes of I-10 East at 67th Avenue, according to the AZDOT.

The lanes were closed until at least 7:30 a.m. with no estimates of reopening.

The closure started with a two-car crash. The drivers of this incident stopped to exchange information, blocking one lane of traffic. Two other drivers stopped behind the original crash. Following that, a box truck was unable to stop in time, striking the last vehicle, creating a chain reaction involving all vehicles

One person was killed and two more were injured, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety. The investigation remains ongoing.
