Chicago, IL (January 18, 2019)- An SUV crashed into the back of a semi-trailer truck Thursday around 3:15 in the afternoon, shutting down I-294 and also sending one on Flight for Life to the hospital.
The collision occurred near Mile Marker 49 in Northbrook, IL, Near Willow Rd. The driver of the gray Toyota SUV, 30, left the road and struck the back of the truck. When the SUV crashed, the truck driver had parked off the road with hazard lights on.
Both Illinois State police and Northbrook first responders arrived at the scene. The woman was trapped in her car. In less than 10 minutes, responders requested Flight for Life. Thankfully, no one else suffered an injury in this accident.
All lanes closed down in both directions for the helicopter to land. After landing on southbound I-294, crews moved the patient to the Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. Here, she received treatment for her life-threatening injuries.
